Vacation Time

Yes, I am still alive. Since the High School graduation for son #2 on 6-13-08, I have been very busy. I worked for one week then we left for vacation.

On June 28th, the first day of our vacation, we went to the Black Sheep Gathering in Eugene, Oregon. I had a great time and bought several different types of fiber, including a Buffalo blend, Mohair, and some unnprocessed Alpaca. I will have pictures to share when I get back home. I am in the process of setting up a small home business, and I am not sure if I just want to sell handspun yarn, or if I also want to sell roving or batts that I have prepared for spinning. If I sell the fiber, I think I will have to learn how to dye it also, which sounds like it could be alot of fun. I have already sold some yarn, and have several requests for more.

When I get back home, I should also have some pics of the progreass on my Auburn Camp shirt. I am very anxious to get this finished and start work on the Printed Silk Cardigan.

I will post more after I get back from vacation on July 8th.

Project update

First update-- the right front of the Auburn Camp Shirt is done! And I don't want to think of what I have left to do.

I deep getting distracted by other things. Namely, the Monkey socks that are now finished, yeah!! I haven't made myself a pair of socks in like 6 months, although I have made socks and gifts for other people.

They may not look like much in this picture, but they are very cute on. The pattern wasn't too complicated, just enough to keep me interested. I enjoyed knitting them, and the fit is nice.

Here is a close up of the pattern (unblocked, sorry about the weird blue background, but the actual yarn color is more true in this picture)...

Pattern: Monkey by Cookie A. , from Knitty's Winter 2006 issue.
Yarn: Koigu KPPM, colorway P405
Needles: Addi Turbo U.S. Size 2 circulars (Don't you just love Addi Turbos?)
Time to complete: Um, not quite sure. I didn't write down the day that I started, but I believe it was about the 1st of May, finished socks on 5-31-08.

In other news, the clock is ticking. Only 2 weeks left until Son #2 graduates from High School, and only 2 months until he moves down to Sacramento to go to school. I am very excited for his future, and I am sure I will survive without having him under our roof anymore. After all, plenty of other mom's have survived, haven't they? Son #1 and his bride are supposed to come home to spend a week and be here for the graduation. I'm glad I only work two 12- hour shifts that week and should be able to spend some time with them.

In other knitting related news, I sold my first skein of yarn. It was a baby blue 100% Merino, 4 oz. I was showing it off and my boss asked how much I would charge for it, then decided she couldn't live without it!
