The rest of my Christmas knitting...

I actually knit these socks for my sister. Her birthday is December 21st. This is the Broadripple

sock pattern that I have used in the past. I used Fixation by Cascade in color no. 9490 and didn't make any changes to the pattern. My sister said that she loves them and that they fit perfectly! It is such a relief when you make something for someone else and it fits!

I also made a fun gift for my sister. She loves pink and black, and loves the "pink poodle" thing. Last year she gave me a pair of pink pajamas that had poodles on them. So this year I knit her this pink poodle...
The pattern is from simple knits with a twist, a book that I received in August. I knit it with Dark Horse yarn - Fantasy. It is an acrylic yarn that is super soft. This was a fun knit, but it would help to have some experience with making things to put it together as the instructions aren't extremely specific. There are several other projects in there that have been added to my long "to do" list. There is a very cute purse that you knit out of netting that you cut into one long stip, and then accent with ribbon and fabric flowers. There is also a very cute pair of ballet type slippers knitted with double sided satin ribbon that I would love to make, but can't find the ribbon.

And for my mother, I knit these sachets from the One Skein book. This also qualifies as a project for the One Skein KAL! These were also quick and easy to knit, and my mother loved them. I used Rowan 4 ply cotton and size 3 DPNs.I think I will try to knit more of these and stash them away for quick gifts for friends.

Well, time to go back to knitting on the Ivy sweater. I've been working on the left front and had knit all the way up to the shoulder and discovered that my stitch count and measurements were off, so I frogged it back to the patterned ribbing and have started over. It's nice to have time to knit something for me without any pressure to get it down in a certain time frame.

Happy Knitting everyone!

There's a whole lotta knittin' goin' on...

....and I can only post one picture now. I know my husband won't be reading my blog, so here is a picture of his present. This is the gaiter from One Skein by Leigh Radford. I think it was Encore yarn that I used, it's all a blur now. All I know is that I finished it, and I don't think he knows what I was knitting for him.

I have finished 3 other presents for Christmas, and will post pictures after Christmas so that I don't ruin any surprises. I'm hoping the packages make it to their destinatinons before Christmas. ( Sorry Sis, I don't think your birthday present will be there by the 12-21! ) I only have one more small knitted gift to finish for Christmas, and one sewn gift to finish. I think I might be able to do it!!!! I work tomorrow, then I'm off until 12-26.

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope Santa brings you lots of knitting goodies.

It's the Most Busiest Time of the Year

December is always a busy time of year at my job. I don't know why hospitals always feel like they have to have 2-3 mandatory classes for nurses or implement new policies in Dec., but it happens EVERY year so I have just come to accept it.

On top of the usual holiday fun, I had to help move a whole clinic practice (at my other job) to a new location and combine it with another practice...........and then I got the flu. Boy do I know how to have a good time. OH, OH, OH, and then I got conjuctivitis. On the upside, I have had more time to knit in the past week than I normally would have. In fact I was starting to feel a little housebound and tired of knitting (I know, that's blasphemy!). In the past 1-1 1/2 weeks, I have completed 2 whole giftie projects, done some more finishing up on a gift, started the left front of my Ivy sweater, and have 2 other gifts partially completed---no make that 3 gifts partially completed. I don't think I have a problem with staying on task, I just like a little variety and am having trouble prioritizing. Plus there is always the problem of not working on a gift in front of the person that you plan on giving it to!!

I promise to have pictures up of some of the gifts by sometime this weekend. Stay tuned..
