I Got My STR Kit!!!

Yeah! I got my kit on Sat. 3/17/07 - the same day I picked my mom up from the airport for a weeklong visit. I'm so happy to finally see what everyone has been talking about. I have been reading through the pattern, and re-reading it. I have never done a toe-up sock before. And the only time I used a provisional cast-on, someone else was there to talk me throught it. But I am game and I'm going to try casting on for the first sock when I get a moment that I can totally concentrate on it and figure it out. I love the colors of the yarn.

I also received a compensation skein of yarn. There sure are alot of neat colors to choose from. I chose "Lucy" I love the tan, brown and aqua blue together. I have alot of aqua and brown in my wardrobe right now.
My mother helped me put together this necklace to go with all that aqua and brown in my wardrobe. The lampwork beads in the center of the necklace came from Yellow Dog Beads

And here is a close-up of the beads.

Gotta run, time to cook dinner for hungry teenager boyz!!

Just a few pictures..

I really have been knitting. I finished the socks I was knitting for my son J (he's the one who is recovering from a snowboard accident/surgery). These socks were supposed to be done for the ill-fated trip - but weren't. I worked on them quite a bit while sitting with him in the hospital, but had to wait until I got home to find directions to kitchener stitch the toe closed. They are just plain/standard socks knit with "Master Grey" Wildfoote sock yarn on size 1 bamboo DPN's.
Boy am I glad these socks are done. It wasn't the most interesting yarn to knit with after knitting with colorful, handpainted yarns, although it does seem like a very nice yarn. Now I can feel free to start on my Rockin' Sock Club Kit - when I get it in the mail. I guess I am one of the unlucky few whose binder wasn't right. I'm hoping my kit will go out in the next few days. In the meantime, the suspense got to me, and I had to "peek" at the yarn that is coming, and the sock pattern. One of the members in the group started a ring for everyone in the group, and a flicker page to share pictures of our socks. I kinda needed something to lift my spirits, and seeing the yarn colors did that. I really like the colorway in the Feb. kit.
When I got as far as I could on J's sock in the hospital, I started the Left front of the Arwen Cardigan. For those of you not familiar with the pattern, that long snakey-looking thing on the right side of the picture is going to be a sleeve when it grows up!! I sure do like the cable pattern, but have had to keep checking myself, and ripping out a few rows when I haven't paid close enough attention to the way the cables are suppsed to go. I think I have my mantra down now,"cable front, cable back, cable front, cable back ..." I am also loving the color and feel of the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran.

I can't stand it any more, I haven't knitted all day and want to get a few rows done before I have to go to bed!! Ta Ta

I'm Back

I had every intention of posting last weekend, but I had a little (ok, it was big) family crisis. My youngest son went out of town to go snowboarding with the high school ski club and did a belly flop not once, but twice, hard. Lesson learned - this is not good for your spleen, especially if you don't have any extra body fat on your tummy. Anyway, he had internal bleeding, and required emergency surgery last Sat. and just came home from the hospital on Thursday 3/8. He seems to be healing just fine. Dad and mom are recovering also!!

I did get some knitting done while staying with him in the hospital, and will post pictures in a few days. I did make some changes to the template and updated the link to Project Spectrum. I also put a link to the Spring issue of Knitty -there is a top and a sweater that I would love to do. I also added a link to the Rockin' Sock Club. Last year I hesitated to sign up and missed out completely. So far I haven't received my sock kit, but I'll be stalking the mailman today!!
